ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Our good friend Billy Durney of Hometown Bar-B-Que in Red Hook, Brooklyn challenged me to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge today. Of course I accepted his challenge, and got doused with three buckets of ice cold water in front of BrisketTown.

This weekend we'll be donating 2% of sales from BrisketTown to ALSA. Pay us a visit, and help us contribute to a great cause! Of course, you can (and should) donate on your own. Just visit http://alsa.org to pledge.

Who We Challenged

We're challenging Aaron Franklin of Franklin BBQ, Daniel Vaughn of Texas Monthly Magazine, Pete Wells of The New York Times, and Andrew Tarlow of Marlow & Sons & Diner. They all have 24 hours to accept the challenge. When they do, we'll post their video responses below. Game on!

Star Spangled Brisket

The Fourth of July is this weekend, and we've been getting calls all week about folks looking to snag briskets for their beach bonfires, park picnics, and rooftop rendezvous (see what I did?). Where ever you're watching the fireworks, you should heighten your experience with slow smoked meat.

To keep things simple this year, we're offering racks of ribs and whole briskets, both available hot and ready for pickup between 11AM on the 4th of July from BrisketTown.

Briskets will be coming in at around 7lbs cooked, and sell for $28 per lb.
Ribs are coming in at around 2lbs per rack, and sell for $26 per lb.

How To Order

Sorry, online pre-ordering for the 4th is no longer available. But we will have special holiday hours at BrisketTown. On the 4th of July we'll be open from 12PM to 8:30PM. Come pay us a visit, and snag some 'cue to go.

FAQ

Q: Are options limited to just brisket & ribs?
A: Yes, these seemed to be the most popular items for the 4th of July last year. To streamline, we're just offering these items this year.

Q: Will orders come with pickles, onions, and bread?
A: We will provide our house-made pickles at no additional charge, but orders this year will not come with bread or onions.

Q: Will the brisket or ribs come sliced?
A: No, the briskets and ribs will come whole. However, slicing is really easy. For the ribs, just cut between the bones. For brisket, we recommend watching Aaron Franklin's video on carving brisket.

Q: How should I transport it? Will it stay hot?
A: The briskets will come wrapped in butcher paper. If you want to keep them hot until later, we'd recommend coming with a towel and a cooler. Wrap the brisket in a towel, and throw it in a clean empty cooler until you're ready to chow down.

Q: What happens if I order, but forget to come pick up?
A: We will be making these briskets to order based on your reservations. For that reason, we ask for a credit card to secure the order. Orders left unclaimed will be charged on the card provided.
